Learning Objectives

On successful completion of this workshop and its activities, participants will have demonstrated the ability to:
  • Describe and conceptualise the building blocks of the lean social enterprise business model canvas;
  • Identify and articulate the differences between the mission centric model, the mission related model and the unrelated mission model;
  • Develop a clear business idea to address a particular social issue within their community.

Alignment to National Secondary School Curriculum

The following are Caribbean Examination Council’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) subject areas that are considered synergistic with the SSEI Programme: 

  1. Health Family & Life Education (Full Syllabus);
  2. Social Studies – Section A (Individual, Family & Society);
  3. Principles of Business – Section 1 (Nature of Business); and
  4. Principles of Business – Section 3 (Establishing a Business).

Workshop - Social Enterprise Models: Integrating Social Initiative & Business Model

This workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to learn how to organize, articulate and implement business ideas using the business model canvas. Participants will be introduced to and learn how to identify and communicate the key elements of a start-up social enterprise’s business model. Participants will also be introduced to the general ideas and concepts of social enterprise, different models of social enterprises and their potential use in addressing social issues that may be present in their communities.
